AUDIOMETRY
An audiometry exam tests your ability to hear sounds.Hearing occurs when sound waves stimulate the nerves of the inner ear. The sound then travels along nerve pathways to the brain. The benefits of this test are to remove people who are at risk of significant hearing loss by identifying changes in the hearing threshold. The intensity of sound is measured in decibels (dB) and the tone of sound is measured in Hertz (Hz). Hearing is considered normal it you can hear tones from 250 Hz – 8000 Hz at 25dB or lower.
